The word “counselling” is widely used and can have different meanings for different people. Often when clients contact the Health Shop to request counselling they do not require long term, in depth contracted work but are seeking short-term one to one support to deal with a particular issue.
We can offer a safe, confidential environment in which to talk things through with an impartial outsider, who will have specific knowledge and experience of the issue being discussed. The help offered may take the form of a one-off session or a series of sessions over a period of time.
The kind of issues that are typically dealt with include:
- Coming Out
- Relationships
- Safer Cruising
- Reporting of homophobic crime
- Drug use
